JUSTIFICATION AND OBJECTIVES OF THE "VALUE-MINDED MANAGEMENT" TRAINING PROJECT The purpose of this project is to provide an opportunity for managerial human resources development in Value-Minded Management/Value Analysis: The Key To Increased Quality and Productivity. Value-Minded Management is the over-arching theme, and Value Analysis is the methodology. Value Analysis (VA) is a change management tool that enables organizations to achieve the required function at the lowest overall cost in resources. It is a pragmatic approach to make things better. The power of Value Analysis is in its unique dual ability to achieve performance improvement and cost-effectiveness. Value Analysis is not a panacea for all management problems; it is only one of the methods by which management can be improved. There are, however, some compelling reasons why efforts to make management more effective should focus attention on the VA approach: VA's greatest advantage is its relative simplicity and apparent commonsensical approach. VA is a creative problem solving and effective decision making technique that can be applied at all levels of management. VA is a powerful instrument for organizational development to lead and manage change. VA is a project management methodology. VA is the #1 tool of Total Quality Management (TQM), Business Process Reengineering (BPR), and Productivity Improvement. VA has three distinct characteristics: It follows a scientific method of study; it stimulates creativity; and it is result oriented. The main objective of the Value-Minded Management/Value Analysis training project is to further the professional development of managers by empowering them with this modern management tool in order to help them improve quality and productivity, increase organizational effectiveness, and render better service through a more value-minded management of resources. ORGANIZATION and CONTENT OF THE PROGRAM AOK Consulting & Education has designed a Value-Minded Management/Value Analysis training program which can be presented either as a Standard Program to a group of participants at a public seminar or mounted as a Customized Program for on-site presentation. The duration of the standard program is two days and can be scheduled either as two full-days or four half-days seminar (morning sessions). The duration of the customized presentation can be expanded or shortened to meet customer requirements. Attendance is limited to up to 20 participants per class to ensure a more effective learning situation. Each participant will receive a personal copy of the AOK VA Workbook which is specially designed to follow the seminar presentation. All presentations are made with the aid of slides and VA case study demonstrations. The program, which is outlined here below, comprises of Orientation and Workshop seminars so that by the end of each program participants will be well schooled and skilled in Value-Minded Management/Value Analysis.
